Nature Walks
Slow ground-level walking on permitted paths at the forest edge, where the detail is.
A safari shows you the landscape at 20 km/h. Walking shows you what is actually in it — tracks in the dust, alarm calls, the smell of crushed lantana, a hornbill three trees away that you would never have registered from a vehicle.
Where You Can Walk
Around the properties, along the village edge, and on whichever routes are open that week — just ask and we will point you at the good ones. The core reserve areas are kept for the wildlife alone, so we leave those to them.
Walk with Someone Who Knows the Ground
This is elephant country, and a local guide reads it in a way that takes years to learn — fresh dung, a broken branch, the particular hush that means it is time to step back. Ask us and we will arrange someone lovely to walk with you; it makes the morning far richer as well as safer.
What to Bring
Closed shoes, long trousers, water and a light layer for the early chill. Muted colours and no perfume, so the forest carries on as though you were not there.
Timing and Conditions
Early morning is best. Access changes with the season and with local wildlife movement — a route that was fine last month may be closed this week.
