Aranyasun is the gentler of our two properties — small, green, wonderfully quiet and happy to welcome your pet. It is built around a garden rather than a lobby, and it suits families and couples who want the forest close by and the day entirely their own.

Aranyasun sits on approximately three-quarters of an acre beside Masinagudi village and is run by a family with generations of Nilgiri tea planting behind them. The character is built around privacy, quiet, garden and mountain views, and easy access to the wildlife on the doorstep.

It suits families, couples and anyone travelling with a pet. There is space for children to run, birds in the garden from sunrise, and a quiet evening at the property — and the forest is close enough that you can be at a safari gate early without a punishing drive.

About 9 km to a Mudumalai safari point, around 3 km to the Masinagudi bus stand, roughly 7 km to the Moyar River and about 25 km to Bandipur Tiger Reserve. These are approximate driving distances on hill roads, so do allow a little more time than the numbers suggest.

Is Aranyasun suitable for families with young children?

It is one of the nicest places we know for them. There is an open garden, a play area, and plenty of quiet. We do ask that children stay with an adult outdoors after dark, simply because we share this landscape with its wildlife.
