Bandipur Tiger Reserve
Across the state line in Karnataka, continuous with Mudumalai and easily reached.
- Type
- Tiger reserve and national park
- State
- Karnataka
- From Aranyasun
- About 25 km
- Note
- Separate safari booking from Mudumalai
Bandipur begins where Mudumalai ends. The forest does not notice the border; the paperwork does. It is a separate reserve with its own safari arrangements, and it is close enough to Masinagudi to do as a morning.
Distance
Aranyasun lists Bandipur Tiger Reserve at about 25 km from the property. That is a comfortable morning drive on forest highway.
Safari
Bandipur runs its own safari operation under the Karnataka forest department, with separate timings and ticketing from Mudumalai — so the two are arranged independently. We are happy to help you sort out both.
What You Might See
Similar cast to Mudumalai: elephant, gaur, chital, sambar, and the same low odds on tiger and leopard. The open grassland stretches give good visibility.
Night Closure
The highway through Bandipur closes to traffic overnight to protect wildlife. If you are driving down from Mysore, aim to be through comfortably before the barrier comes down — we will help you work back from that when you tell us your plans.

Where to Base Yourself
Both Avenue Tree properties are in Masinagudi, which is the practical base for this part of the landscape — close enough to the gates for an early start, far enough from the highway to be quiet.
Labdhi Resorts
Warm timber rooms, home-cooked vegetarian food and an easy drive to the Mudumalai safari gates.
