Superior King Room with Loft

A generous room of roughly 340 sq. ft. with a further 140 sq. ft. loft above, built in the spirit of a timber cabin. Children tend to claim the loft within about a minute of arriving, and couples travelling together appreciate having a little space of their own.

Garden View with Loft

Two of these — a cabin-style room with a ladder up to a loft. Children adore them, which is why they are usually the first to go. Bathroom below, sleeping space above, and a very happy small person in the middle.

Neither property asks children to sit still. Between them there is lawn play equipment, indoor games for the heat of the day, and an elephant camp a short drive away.

Labdhi Resorts

Our kitchen is vegetarian, and everything is cooked to order rather than held under a lamp. Expect proper South Indian breakfasts, comforting North Indian dinners, and tea whenever you would like some. Do mention allergies, timings or a Jain preference when you book rather than on the day — supplies come up the ghat road, so a little notice lets us feed you properly.

Aranyasun

Breakfast is served at the property, and our kitchen is small and domestic rather than commercial — which is rather the point. Meal plans, dinner arrangements and any dietary needs are easiest to agree in advance over the phone, and we are always happy to work around you.

After Dark

We ask that children stay with an adult outdoors once the sun goes down, at both properties. It is a small thing, and it is there because we share this landscape with its wildlife.

Which Avenue Tree resort is better for a family with young children?

Both work well. Aranyasun has the larger open garden, a play area and is pet friendly, which suits families who want space to spread out. Labdhi Resorts has a lawn play area, indoor games and a restaurant on site, which suits families who would rather not think about meals. Call us and describe your children's ages and we will point you at the better fit.

Do the resorts have family rooms or rooms for children?

Yes. Labdhi Resorts has the Superior King Room with Loft, and Aranyasun has the Garden View with Loft — both add a separate upper sleeping level that children tend to claim within a minute of arriving, while keeping the main room for the adults.

Are there play areas for kids at either resort?

Both properties have outdoor play equipment on the lawn, and Labdhi Resorts also has indoor games such as table tennis for the warm middle of the day.

Is a Mudumalai safari suitable for young children?

Generally yes in shorter doses — a two-hour safari is about the limit before the novelty wears off for most young children. We are glad to help time a shorter or later slot so the morning stays enjoyable rather than a trial for anyone.

What is the policy on children after dark?

We ask that children stay with an adult outdoors after dark at both properties. It is a small and easy rule, and it exists because we share this landscape with its wildlife — the boundary between the garden and the forest is drawn on a map rather than on the ground.

Can the kitchen cook simply for children?

Yes. Both kitchens are small and cook to order rather than to a buffet clock, which works well for a picky eater. Tell us in advance about allergies, favourites and timings and we will look after everyone properly.
