The Short Answer
The cooler, drier months are the easiest for travel and the most comfortable to be outdoors in. The months following the rains are the greenest and the most alive. There is no month in which Masinagudi is a bad idea, but there are months in which it is a different idea.
Cool and Dry
Comfortable days, cold early mornings, clear light. This is peak season for a reason — book accommodation and plan safari access well in advance, and expect company at the popular spots.
Hot and Dry
Warm through the middle of the day, but wildlife concentrates around water, which can make sightings more reliable even as conditions get less pleasant. Start early, rest at midday, go out again late.
The Rains
Green, dramatic and quiet. Road conditions and access can change quickly, and hill routes such as the Kalhatti climb can be affected. Fewer visitors, softer light, more risk of a plan changing on you.
What Changes with Season
Safari timings and access, road conditions on the ghat routes, water in the Moyar, waterfall flow, and bird activity. Because all of these vary year to year, treat any seasonal guide — including this one — as orientation rather than instruction, and confirm current conditions before you travel.
