Masinagudi Trip Cost: A Practical Budget Guide for Couples and Families

Your Masinagudi trip cost depends on six things: your travel dates, how many people are coming (and the children's ages), the room you choose, the meals you need, how you get here and the activities you add. Two couples visiting on the same weekend can spend very different amounts.

This guide is a budgeting framework, not a price list. Labdhi Resorts and AranyaSun, Avenue Tree's two stays in Masinagudi, quote room rates for your dates rather than publishing a fixed tariff, so you won't find estimated totals here. You will find what each part of the budget covers, what is included at each property, what costs extra and what to confirm before you pay.

The only price quoted is the properties' own open-air jeep safari. We checked it on their websites on 19 October 2026.

Quick Budget Summary

Every Masinagudi trip budget falls into the same five categories. Keep them separate when you plan, because each one is priced by someone different.

There are no totals in this table on purpose. Without confirmed rates, any total would be a guess. Once you have a quote for your stay, add your own transport and safari costs to get a realistic figure.

What Affects Your Masinagudi Trip Cost?

• Your travel dates. AranyaSun states that its room tariffs are per night and vary by season, occupancy and room category. Always ask for a quote for your exact dates.
• Number of guests and children's ages. These decide which room fits your group and whether you need an extra bed or a second room.
• Room category. Rooms differ in size and layout, from compact rooms for two to loft rooms with extra space for families.
• Number of nights. Two nights gives you one full day here, and a third night allows a slower pace. Our two-day Masinagudi itinerary shows how the time fits together.
• Meals. Whether your rate includes breakfast or other meals changes the cost of each day.
• How you travel. Driving yourself, hiring a car with a driver or taking a bus partway each carry different costs.
• Activities. Safaris are the main variable. Some guests take one, others take several or none.

Accommodation Costs and Room Options

Your room is the part of the budget the property quotes directly. To compare quotes fairly, start with the room that genuinely fits your group.

Labdhi Resorts

• Deluxe Room (about 200 sq. ft.). King-size mattress and warm timber interiors, set up for double occupancy or twin sharing. An extra cot can be arranged on request.
• Superior King Room with Loft (about 340 sq. ft. + 140 sq. ft. loft). A larger cabin-style room with a loft above, reached by an internal stair. Families often use the loft as a second space for children. The room is listed for double occupancy or twin sharing, so confirm how many guests it can sleep for your group.

Check-in at Labdhi Resorts is from 1:00 PM, and early check-in is not available, so plan your arrival around it. Labdhi Resorts is not pet friendly. See the Labdhi Resorts page for photographs of both rooms.

AranyaSun

AranyaSun has six rooms in three categories, two of each:

• Garden View Room (about 144 sq. ft.). Queen bed, opening onto the garden.
• Mountain View Room (about 192 sq. ft.). Turned towards the Nilgiri hills.
• Garden View with Loft (about 250 sq. ft.). A family room with a loft sleeping level, listed for up to four guests.

AranyaSun's rooms overview lists the Garden View and Mountain View rooms for two adults, while their individual room pages show two adults and one child. If you are travelling with a child, confirm the occupancy for your booking. Check-in is from 12:00 PM and check-out is by 10:00 AM. Planning Your Food and Meal Budget

Vegetarian Dining at Labdhi Resorts

Labdhi Resorts has Aurora, a purely vegetarian restaurant that cooks to order. The menu covers South Indian and North Indian dishes and a few international ones. Mention a Jain preference or any allergies when you book.

Non-vegetarian food is not on the standing menu. It can be arranged by special request through the property manager, so call ahead if you need it. Breakfast can be timed around an early safari if you let the team know the night before.

Meals at AranyaSun

AranyaSun has a small, home-style kitchen rather than a restaurant. Breakfast is served at the property, and home-style meals can be arranged if you share your preferences and dietary needs in advance.

What to Confirm

• Which meals your room rate includes.
• How meals outside your rate are charged.
• Arrangements for children's meals and any dietary needs.
• Dinner timings, if you expect to arrive late.

Transport and Activity Costs

Budget for these separately from your stay. Neither property includes them in a room rate.

Getting to Masinagudi

Most guests drive. Budget for fuel, tolls and parking, or for car hire and your driver's allowance. AranyaSun gives these approximate distances:

• From Bangalore: about 250 km, around 5 hours.
• From Mysore: 90 to 100 km, about 2.5 hours.
• From Ooty: about 77 km, around 2.5 hours via Gudalur and Theppakadu.

The Bandipur and Thorarapalli forest gates close at 9:00 PM and reopen at 6:00 AM. A late start can leave you on the wrong side of the gate, with an unplanned night to pay for. Our Bangalore to Masinagudi drive guide and travel information page cover routes and timings.

If you travel with a driver, plan where they will stay. Labdhi Resorts has no driver accommodation on site, and drivers may not sleep in vehicles at the property because of wildlife movement. The team can suggest a lodge nearby. At AranyaSun, ask about arrangements for your driver when you book.

The Nilgiris E-Pass

Both properties advise that an E-Pass is required for travellers entering the Nilgiris district, which includes Masinagudi. Register on the official Tamil Nadu e-pass portal before you travel and keep a copy with you. We could not confirm from an official source whether a fee applies, so check when you register.

Safaris and Activities

There are two kinds of safari here, and they are paid for differently.

• Forest department safaris. Safaris inside the Mudumalai and Bandipur tiger reserves are run and priced by the forest departments, and you pay them directly. Fees, vehicles and timings change, and the figures published across different websites do not agree, so we don't quote them here. Our Mudumalai safari guide explains how they work.
• The properties' open-air jeep safari. Labdhi Resorts and AranyaSun both offer an open-air jeep safari of about three hours for up to six people. AranyaSun describes it as an on-road drive through buffer-zone areas around Moyar, Singara and Bokkapuram, with no off-road sections. Both property websites list it at ₹2,500 per jeep (AranyaSun says "from ₹2,500"). That is per jeep, not per person, for one outing. Neither site says whether taxes are included or whether the price changes by season. We checked this on 19 October 2026, and prices and availability can change, so confirm it when you book.

Both properties help guests plan around current safari timings and get to the gate in good time. They cannot guarantee forest department seats, and no safari can guarantee wildlife sightings. See wildlife safaris from Masinagudi for the options.

One cost that is easy to avoid: single-use plastic is banned across the Nilgiris, with fines of ₹500 to ₹10,000. Carry 5-litre cans or reusable bottles instead.

A Two-Night Budget for Couples

We have not put a figure here, because neither property publishes a fixed room rate and an estimate could easily be wrong for your dates. Instead, ask for a two-night quote that covers these points:

• Your exact check-in and check-out dates.
• The room you prefer, for example a Deluxe Room at Labdhi Resorts or a Mountain View Room at AranyaSun.
• The total room price for both nights, and whether taxes are included.
• Which meals are included, and how other meals are charged.
• The jeep safari price if you want one, and help with forest department safari plans.
• The advance payment needed and the cancellation terms.

Then add your own transport and any forest department safari fees. That gives you a realistic two-night total before you commit.

Planning a Family Trip Budget

Families have more variables, so a quote matters even more. These details shape it:

• Children's ages. Neither property publishes a child rate, so share every child's age when you enquire. Ages affect which room suits you and how bedding and meals are arranged.
• Occupancy. Most rooms at both properties are listed for two guests. A family of four may need a loft room, an extra bed or two rooms, and each option is priced differently.
• Loft rooms. AranyaSun's Garden View with Loft is listed for up to four guests. At Labdhi Resorts, confirm how many people the Superior King Room with Loft can sleep.
• Extra beds. AranyaSun provides extra beds or mattresses on request, subject to a charge. Labdhi Resorts can arrange an extra cot on request. Ask for the charge in your quote.
• Free time on site. Both properties have a children's play area. Labdhi Resorts also has indoor games such as table tennis, and AranyaSun has open lawns.
• Safaris. The properties' jeep safari is priced per jeep for up to six people, rather than per person.

What Is Included in Your Resort Stay?

An item is marked "Included" only where the property publishes it as part of a stay. "Extra" means it is charged separately. "Confirm" means it depends on your rate or is not published.

Extra Charges to Confirm Before Booking

Not every item below applies to every stay. Ask which ones apply to yours, and get the answer in writing with your quote.

• Taxes. Ask whether the quoted price includes applicable taxes.
• Meals outside your rate. Ask how they are charged.
• Additional guests. Ask about the charge for an extra bed, mattress or cot.
• Activities. The properties' jeep safari is charged separately. Forest department fees are paid to the department, and you should ask whether any service charge applies to a safari booking made for you.
• Early check-in or late check-out. At AranyaSun this is subject to availability and may be charged. Labdhi Resorts does not offer early check-in.
• Longer stays. AranyaSun says rates for stays of 15 days or more are negotiable.

Payment and Cancellation Terms

Labdhi Resorts publishes these terms: a 50% advance confirms a booking. With a 50% advance, the booking is non-refundable if cancelled within 14 days of arrival. With a 100% advance, it is non-refundable if cancelled within 7 days of arrival. No-shows and early departures are non-refundable.

At AranyaSun, refunds follow the terms confirmed at the time of booking. Last-minute cancellations, no-shows and early departures may be non-refundable. AranyaSun accepts common payment methods, including UPI, cards and bank transfer.

Terms can change, so check the current terms with your quote before you pay an advance.

Practical Budgeting Tips

• Compare total inclusions, not room price alone. A lower room rate without meals can cost more by the end of the trip.
• Confirm occupancy and meal arrangements first. Then compare quotes for rooms that genuinely fit your group.
• Request an itemised quotation. It should show the room rate per night, number of nights, taxes, meals and each extra.
• Check cancellation and payment terms before you pay an advance.
• Plan to clear the forest gates before 9:00 PM, so a late start doesn't add an unplanned night.
• Keep a separate safari budget, and expect to pay forest department fees directly.

Are Safari Charges Included?

No. Mudumalai and Bandipur safaris are run by the forest departments and paid for separately. Labdhi Resorts and AranyaSun also offer an open-air jeep safari on the roads around Masinagudi, priced separately from your room. Sightings are never guaranteed.
