Before You Start
This assumes you arrive in daylight and stay two nights, which is where Masinagudi really starts to work. Treat the timings below as a shape rather than a schedule, and let us confirm the current safari and camp times for you nearer the day.
Day One: Afternoon and Evening
Arrive, settle, and do nothing much. Walk the property, sit outside, let the temperature drop. In the late afternoon drive out toward the Moyar valley for the light, and be back before dusk. Bonfire or campfire in the evening, depending on where you are staying.
Day Two: Morning
Early start for safari. Be at the departure point well ahead of the slot. Back for a late breakfast, then Theppakadu for the elephant camp if the feeding time suits.
Day Two: Afternoon and Evening
Rest through the heat. Late afternoon, take a guided walk at the forest edge or sit with binoculars in the garden — this is when most people see the most birds of their trip and are surprised by it.
Day Three: Leaving
Leave in daylight if your route crosses the reserves. If you have time, the drive up toward Ooty and back is a good half day — but check the state of the Kalhatti road first.
If You Have a Third Night
Add Bandipur as a separate morning, or spend a full day in Ooty. Do not try to do both in one day.
